Setting a default job and cost element
You can enter a debit default job and/or cost element for an employee earning code. This is useful when the employee always uses a specific job for the same earning code, such as the tracking job for holiday or vacation taken. When the employee enters the earning code, or when e-timecard inserts the holiday earning code, the program automatically brings in the job and/or cost element.
You can change the job and cost element values that default from the Earning Codes screen. e-timecard always uses the settings here on the Employee Earning Codes screen before looking to the defaults in the earning code master record.
e-timecard uses the cost element in the employee earning code record instead of the cost element that you can enter in the employee master record. To override this default, you can select Use Employee Cost Element on the Earning Codes screen. In this case, e-timecard uses the employee cost element instead of the one in the employee earning code, even if the job defaults from the employee earning code.
