What you will learn about security
In this section, you will learn how to set up e-timecard security access for users such as site administrators and group time and expense keepers. You do not need to set up security for employees who enter their own time or approve time cards, because you define their access rights in places such as their employee records or in the Initialization file.
Read about concepts for e-timecard user security. Then, complete the following tasks in the order shown to set up user security.
Before you begin setting up user security, keep this in mind. In task 1, on the User ID Setup screen:
If you set either the Range Access or Application Access field to Partial, then you must complete tasks 2 through 5 for that user.
If you set boththe Range Access and Application Access fields to Full, and you do not complete tasks 2 through 5, then that user will have access to alle-timecard data.
Hint: On the User ID Setup screen, if you select Full for both Range Access and Application Access, you are not required to complete tasks 2 through 5 for that user ID. But, setting both these fields to Full does not restrict you from completing the other tasks. Setting a user’s access to functions and data ranges on the User-Module Setup screen gives you more flexibility and range options.
