What are combination pay codes?
This option is available to users of e-timecard standalone only.
Each combination pay code consists of a primary code and between one and three secondary codes. These are some uses for combination pay codes:
Shift pay
Premium overtime
Hazardous pay
During time card entry, by default you can have employees select Create from the Pay Code (user-defined label) dropdown list, then attach any pay code with a rank of Secondary to a pay code with a rank of Primary to create a unique combination code. There are other options you can select for combination pay code entry on the Parameter Setup screen > Time Cards tab.
To use combination pay codes, you first must turn this function on in the Initialization file. Then, you must go to each org9 that uses combination pay codes and set the maximum pay codes to more than one; you can override this setting for an employee type.
The example below shows how you can set up combination pay codes.
Example
Our demo company has employees who receive hazardous pay over and above their standard hourly wages for maintaining nuclear facilities. The company does not want to include the hazardous pay as part of their salary, so they pay it over and above the salary.
The solution is to allow employees to enter a combination pay code for hazardous pay. The combination code consists of the primary code (REG) and one secondary code (HAZ).
On the Earning Codes screen, create the REG earning code. Set the Rank field to Primary.
Create the HAZ earning code. Set the Rank field to Secondary.
On the Employee Types screen, under the e-timecard Data tab, set the Maximum Pay Codes (user-defined label) field to 2 or more for each employee type that uses the combination code for hazardous pay.
On the Standard Codes screen, add the REG and HAZ earning codes for each employee type that uses the combination code for hazardous pay.
Or, if the employee records already exist, enter the code manually for each employee on the Employee Earning Codes screen.
During time card entry, employees select REG,HAZ from the Pay Code dropdown list.
