Using earning codes according to time card period status
You determine if a time card period’s status is Open, Closed, Prior Period, or Future on the Time Card Schedules screen. You can base whether employees can charge to the earning code on the period’s status. Your options in the Use when Period Status is dropdown list are:
Open and Prior Period
Open, Prior Period, and Future
Not Used in e-timecard
For example, our demo company has a payroll earning code called SICK. They have determined that for that code they do not want employees charging to any period set to Future. Therefore, they set the Use when Period Status is field to Open and Prior Period.

You use the Include in Straight Time and Used for Holidays check boxes in conjunction with time card profiles.
