How do you want to validate earning codes on future dates?

The Validate earning codes on future dates (user-defined label) field lets you decide how you want to deal with an employee entering hours on a future date to an earning code that is not allowed for use in the future. You set whether an earning code can be used in the future in the Use When Period Status Is field on the Earning Codes screen.

When an employee enters hours on a future date, e-timecard uses this setting on the Parameter Setup screen to validate the earning code instead of the one that you make on the e-timecard Initialization screen.

The table below explains how your different options work when an employee enters hours on a future date with an earning code that is not allowed for future entry. Note that Soft Error is the default.

Hard Error

The program displays an error message and requires the employee to change the earning code before s/he can save the time card.

Soft Error

The program displays an error message, and the employee has the choice of leaving the invalid earning code on the time card or changing it.

No Validation

The program does not display an error message.
