Prorating holiday hours
e-timecard can automatically adjust the number of holiday hours that the program defaults onto the time card. The program uses the employee’s full-time percent value to prorate the adjusted holiday hours for that employee. This feature can save you time, because you won’t have to set up separate holiday schedules for different employees who work half-time, three-quarters time, etc. Note that the default for holiday proration is turned off in Parameter Setup.
In each employee type where you want to prorate holiday hours, you must enter a range of the full-time percent values for which the program performs the proration. When you turn on holiday proration in Parameter Setup, this allows you to use this feature, but the default in each employee type is 0.0000 for both range fields, meaning that the program does not adjust the hours from the holiday schedule.
Holiday proration applies only to hours from the holiday schedule that automatically appear on time cards. e-timecard does not prorate employees’ manual holiday entries.
To determine the adjusted holiday hours, e-timecard does the following.
Determines that the full-time percent in the employee record falls within the proration holiday range in the employee type record.
If e-timecard does not find a full-time percent for the employee—meaning, the full-time percent is zero—then it inserts the unadjusted holiday hours onto the time card.
Divides the hours in the employee’s holiday schedule by the employee’s full-time percent.
In order for e-timecard to insert prorated holiday hours onto the time card for a particular holiday, you must enter more than zero hours for that holiday when you create the schedule. If there are no hours in the schedule, then e-timecard defaults no hours onto the time card, regardless of the employee’s full-time percent value.
Rounds the adjusted hours according to the value that you enter in the Minimum Hour Interval field of the e-timecard Initialization screen to calculate the final value that it inserts onto the time card.
