Delegating approval
If one of your company’s approvers is going to be absent when employees submit time cards, then you may need to delegate his/her approval authority to another person. The person who you select as the delegated approver must be set up as a time card approver.
You determine the valid time period for the delegation. When you delegate, you share the original approver’s authority rather than taking it away. The original approver can still approve his/her employee’s time cards during the delegation. In other words, either the original approver or the delegated approver can fulfill the approval duty while the delegation is in effect.
Caution: You set up the number of required approvers on these screens: e-timecard Initialization, Approvals tab; e-xpense Form Details, Request Approvals tab and Report Approvals tab. It is possible for you to eliminate an approval level if you delegate to someone who is already a required approver for any of the same employees as the original approver.
The instructions that follow tell you how to delegate approval authority as an administrator.
To delegate approval authority
From the JAMIS Administration home page > Daily Processes tab, under Management, click Approval delegation. Or, from the top of any JAMIS Administration screen, click Management > Approval Delegation. The Delegate Approval screen appears.
Click Add. In the bottom section of the screen, delegation entry fields appear.
In the Original Approver ID field, enter the ID of the approver whose time cards you wish to delegate. To look up authorized approvers, click to the right of the field.
In the Delegated Approver ID field, enter the ID of the approver to whom you want to delegate. To look up authorized approvers, click to the right of the field.
Enter the start and end dates for the delegation. You can enter dates manually or click to the right of either date field to select a date from a calendar.
Select the reason why you are delegating from the dropdown list.
In the Delegate For dropdown list, select the application(s) that the delegation applies to. You can delegate to e-timecard, e-xpense, or both.
Click Update to commit your delegation entries.
To create an additional delegation, repeat from step 2.
