Configuring your system
In this section, you will configure system settings for your company.
Some settings are pre-filled based on your system administrator’s responses during software installation. We recommend that you do not change the following.
Server Operating System
Version
cron: Name and Location on Server
If necessary, your system administrator can change these settings. The JAMIS e-timecard Systems Guide contains more information about these settings.
To set system defaults
From the JAMIS Administration home page > Setup tab, under Application Setup, click Company setup. Or, from the top of any JAMIS Administration screen, click Application Setup > Company Setup. The Company Setup screen appears.
Click the System Configuration tab.
In the Output Location field, enter a location for your report outputs; include the drive and directory in the path. The location must already exist. Make sure to include the trailing / or \, depending on your operating system requirements.
Enter the Maximum Rows for Lookups to indicate how many rows the program retrieves when a user looks up job numbers and other items.
When the web application user clicks Search or Retrieve, if the result set is more than the value in the Maximum Rows for Lookups field, then the system gets and displays only the first set of records, according to the value of Maximum Rows for Lookups. For example, if this field is 15, and the result set is 25, then the system gets and displays only the first 15 of those 25 records.
An entry of 0 in this field means that there is no limit on how many records to display when a user retrieves.
Enter the number of days in the Process Queue Retention Time (Days) field to keep completed processes in the process queue so that users can view their status.
In the Interval Between System Checks (Seconds) field, enter a time interval for the jamiscron to check for new processes. We suggest starting with 15 seconds and adjusting according to system performance.
The jamiscron runs interface programs and email notifications.
Set the Maximum Concurrent Processes field to 1 because you should run only one interface to JAMIS at a time.
In the Send Email if the cron Runs Longer Than field, enter in MM:SS format the time for the email program to wait before sending a message to a user who started a jamiscron process that is still running.
Hint: This field can be a useful tool to prevent program failure and check on processes that are using up system resources. For example, if you notice that most processes take fewer than 10 minutes to complete, you can enter 10:00 for Send Email if the cron Runs Longer Than. Then, when a process runs longer than 10 minutes, the program sends an email to the user who started it. This lets the user check if the cause for the lengthy process is a system failure, or simply a large amount of data.
Click Save.
