Choosing file input and output locations

You use input and output locations to interface to and from JAMIS or a third-party product.

During the import, e-timecard validates data such as employees, job numbers, and earning codes. The Input Location of Interface File setting tells e-timecard where to find those data files.

When you run the export, e-timecard creates an output ASCII file. The Output Location of Interface File setting is where JAMIS or your third-party product looks to find the PRASCII exported data file. The file name defaults to what JAMIS expects: prascifi.

During the creation of prascifi, if the file exists from a previous interface, the program overwrites it with the new data unless, at runtime, you select the option to append. Read details on changing settings at runtime.

You can manually change the output file name when you run the interface, but later, when you begin the import in JAMIS, you must change the file name to prascifi.
