Splitting time card periods
There are occasions when you may need to split the time card periods that you automatically generated into smaller periods. Some situations where you may want to use this feature include: if the first period of a new schedule needs to be a short week; if a period overlaps months; or at year end if you want to separate the costs of the previous and new years.
Let’s say that the time card period starts on 12/29/08 and ends on 1/11/09, and the pay period ends on 1/11/09. You want to create two short time card periods, one to finish 2008 and one to start 2009. After you click Split, you enter 12/31/08 in the Time Card Period End Date field. As a result, e-timecard creates the following, new periods from the original period.
Time card period start date |
Time card period end date |
Pay period end date |
12/29/08 |
12/31/08 |
1/11/09 |
1/1/09 |
1/11/09 |
1/11/09 |
After you generate periods automatically, follow these steps to manually split a period.
