Generic vs. job-specific cost elements

You can create multiple cost element tables to allow for generic elements or job-specific elements. To create a generic table, accept the generic default of “/” in the Cost Element Table field. To create a job-specific table, enter a unique name for Cost Element Table. All elements must exist in the generic table before you can use them in a specific table.

A cost element table name can mimic the name of the specific job number when only that job uses the cost element. Or, the table can be for a special set of jobs; for example, you could create a cost element table called OH that applies only to overhead-related jobs.
