Displaying job numbers or descriptions first

The Job (user-defined label) dropdown list on the Time Card screen shows both the job ID and description. By default, the ID appears first for each job in the list. You can turn off the Show jobs before descriptions (user-defined label) check box if you want the description to appear first instead.

When choosing whether you want the ID or description to appear first, ask yourself: what is the most common way that my company’s employees reference jobs when making labor entries?

Your selection for this parameter also determines whether the Job dropdown list is sorted by job ID or description. For example, if you select the ID to appear first, then two jobs would appear in the following order in the list.

AAA (Software Development)
BBB (Quality Assurance)

If you select the description to appear first, then the same two jobs would be sorted as follows.

Quality Assurance (BBB)
Software Development (AAA)
