Creating work orders not linked to job numbers


e-timecard lets you create work order numbers that are not linked to any specific job number. For each org9, you can choose whether you want work orders linked to jobs.

For employees belonging to an org9 where work orders are unlinked, e-timecard does not validate any link between work orders and jobs, so employees can enter any job/work order combination. When employees enter a work order on a time card, they must also enter a job in order to save or submit.

To create a work order not linked to a job number

  1. From the JAMIS Administration home page > Setup tab, under Master Files, click Work orders. Or, from the top of any JAMIS Administration screen, click Master Files > Work Orders. The Work Orders screen appears.

  2. Click Add. In the bottom section of the screen, work order entry fields appear.

  3. In the Work Order Group/Job (user-defined label) field, enter up to 24 alphanumeric characters for a Work Order Group. This field is required; it allows you to easily retrieve related work orders.

  4. Enter the work order number. e-timecard automatically formats the number according to the mask that you set on the Company Setup screen.

  5. Enter up to 30 characters for a description of the work order.

  6. Enter a start date when the work order becomes effective.

  7. Enter an end date when the work order is no longer effective.
    Hint:
    You can enter dates manually. You can also click html/calendar_arrow.gif to the right of either date field to select a date from a calendar.

  8. Click Update to commit your work order entries.

  9. Repeat from step 2 to create another unlinked work order. To create the new work order in the same group as the work order that you just created, simply enter the same group.
