You can decide how many employees appear in the dropdown lists on the following approval function screens.

In the Number of employees for approver selection field, enter the number of employees that approvers see in the lists on those screens. The default is 20.
If the approver has access to more than the number of employees that you enter, then s/he can select Search from the dropdown list to look up from the list of all employees under his/her authority.
